Odznak KORUNY HOR ČESKÉ REPUBLIKY byl stanoven za účelem povzbuzení turistů k lepšímu poznání České republiky prostřednictvím dobývání jejích nejvyšších vrchů. Tento odznak je čtyřstupňový. Autoři odznaku vycházeli z předpokladů, že za dobytí vrchu, kterým (nebo ve vzdálenosti několika set metrů) prochází turistická stezka, bude udělen odznak ve stupních: bronzový, stříbrný a zlatý.
